Justified 1.01
“Fire in the Hole”
Picspam!!!
I recently started re-watching the first season of Justified (again) in preparation of season five starting up next week.
I’m not sure how many times I’ve seen the first episode but it’s been more than three times now and it still holds up for me. The episode follows the short story it’s based on pretty closely except for the ending and I think it’s pretty brilliant.
I wanted to celebrate the episode with some picspam.
spoilers for the episode only…

Here we have Raylan still in Miami sitting across from Tommy Buckley shorty before shooting him. He looks so angry and oh so good. Timothy Olyphant is so hot.

Oh Ava, I love Ava! She’s so happy to see Raylan, she doesn’t even ask why he’s there. I love how casually she talks about cleaning up the mess that she made killing her husband at the dinner table.

Raylan looks so happy to see her as well.

Raylan still in Ava’s house.

Dewey Crowe shows up while Ava’s in the shower and Raylan tries to teach him some manners. I kind of love Dewey.

Raylan decides to pay Boyd Crowder a visit, seeing as he’s why Dewey was at Ava’s. I love that they hug like old friends because they dug coal together.

Boyd really seems happy to see Raylan even thought the visit isn’t really a social one at all.

The two men talk. Mostly Boyd talks and Raylan listens to his racist bullshit.

Raylan’s not really amused. Boyd gives a warning and a time frame to get out of the area.

Raylan can’t seem to stay away from Ava, though he probably should. Who could blame him though, look at that smile.

Later Boyd invites himself to dinner at Ava’s. He’s a brave man trying to take his brother’s place in Ava’s life so soon after she shot him in that very house.

Of course what Boyd really wants is to have some kind of showdown with Raylan, so Ava makes the call.

Raylan isn’t fooled and knows that Boyd is probably at Ava’s waiting for him.

Boyd invites Raylan to sit down for dinner. Raylan should have more time but it seems that patience isn’t really Boyd’s strong suit.

Raylan wants Boyd to reconsider because he really doesn’t seem to want to kill him. He knows the odds are that if he has to draw him weapon that he will more than likely kill Boyd and he really doesn’t seem to want to. Such a sad smile.

Boyd foolishly sent Ava out of the room so he could talk with Raylan alone.

Ava rocks!

“I’m sorry”
Raylan shoots Boyd but doesn’t hit the heart, mostly likely on purpose though he won’t admit that. He seems so sad that he had to shoot him.
I love this show.
First season I loved Raylan the most but later on Boyd really grew on me and I’m not sure who’s my favorite now. Probably both of them.
